ABOVE & BELOW - Tree Museum Branding

What struck me most in this branding project was the clarity of the entire visual identity. The organic colours, textures and shapes immediately connotes nature and life.

“Brand campaign material is shown in the Summer brand colours. The promotional material would be changed every three months to the appropriate brand colours. The Graphic pattern is shown etched into perspex, this could be applied to signage in the museum building and on wayfinding.”

Using thin green string rather than the conventional ribbon as a book mark, amongst other thing, gives the project a “tailor-made” feel rather than something that is conveniently reproduced over and over again.

“All printed campaign material would be reproduced on recycled stock and substrates. The use of drafting paper and thick greyboard have been used to represent the contrast between the strong structure of the trees and the fragility of their leaves.”

Las Caglias Brand Identity

This project successfuly blends a more “traditional” take on sealing (as opposed to todays [almost] overuse of stickers) and merges it with a more contemporary conceptual identity used for the client. These wax seals add more tactile qualities to the corporate material.

Thermo Business Cards

An interesting take on the word “Identity” - what is more personal than your own hand print? The simplicity in the overall design, combined with the ever-changing patterns created through the heat from the holders hands, creates an interesting effect. This could also affect a potential client’s psychology, as what he or she originally believed to be a plain black business cards now contains part of themselves (the hand print) - even though temporary. I find this to be an intelligent way of making other people interact with one’s product or brand.

Murmure Concrete Cards

This business card project reminds me of the “substitution of function” seen in the Yoga business cards, where, rather than producing a “standard” business card, this company presents itself on its own product - concrete slabs. Even though I find it to be an interesting take on stationery, the weight and width of the cards possibly detracts from their main function - highly portable and light weight.

Vanessa Poli’s Graphic Portfolio

A slightly more unconventional setup for a graphic portfolio, what strikes me the most is the minimal identity Poli chose to use. The die-cut on the case adds some texture to a somewhat flat (both in colour and in paper texture) series of mini booklets/brochures that presumably showcase Vanessa’s works.

Even though this format would definitely result in having loose brochures due to misplacement (taking into consideration that this editorial project could be showcased in a relatively large exhibition) I think that this format would work well when creating smaller “yearly update” portfolios, where one could easily showcase his or her favorite small selection of works during the previous year.

A great find by Kyle - wish the music would have had the (possibly cliche) switch into a higher tempo’d piece and possibly evolve the “string” animation a bit more. Fantastic piece nonetheless!
